How do I generate a 3 dimensional plot with XLSTAT-3DPlot?

An Excel sheet with both the data and the results can be downloaded by clicking here. The data correspond to the outputs (rows points and columns points) of the correspondence analysis that has been performed in another tutorial. The data have been slightly reformatted so that they can easily be used here. Using XLSTAT-3DPlot we are going to be able to visualize the data in 3 dimensions.

Once XLSTAT-Pro is activated, select the XLSTAT/Visualizing data/3dplot command, or click on the corresponding button of the "Visualizing data" toolbar (see below).

Before you activate XLSTAT-3DPlot, you need to select the data you want to use for the 3D visualization.

Once you have clicked on the button, the XLSTAT-3DPlot application starts. A first 3D visualization is immediately displayed.

You can then modify the visualization until it fits your needs. Many display options are available in XLSTAT-3DPlot. To reach the result below, we have set the color to be a function of the Type. The size of the bubbles has been modified and set as a function of the distance. The observation labels (Textlabel option) have been indexed on the available labels. With the mouse wheel we have moved the image to the back (you can also use the Grid options). Last, a rotation to the left has been done by clicking on the right button of the mouse wheel and by moving the mouse to the left (while keeping the button down).

Once you are satisfied with the result, you might want to copy the image (use the Ctrl C shortcut) and paste it in another application (Word or Powerpoint for example), or to save the visualization for future use or modification.
